Title: Cars of 2019
Post by: Penfold on February 07, 2019, 06:31:35 AM
Not the 2019 Haas motor, but it is their 2019 livery (and the livery of a few other teams from years gone by):

Well. It's nice. It'll look good on the grid alongside other more colourful entrants. If anything, they could have used even less gold and gone with a scarily black car.

EDIT: Reminds me of a certain IndyCar livery that will be used in 2019.

Here be some renders of the 2019 Haas: https://www.racefans.net/2019/02/07/haas-shows-first-pictures-of-its-2019-f1-car/

I always find it tough to pick out detail in this type of image, doubly so if the car happens to be black, plus Haas will surely be holding back bits of aero until testing kicks off.

Hey Penny. Post new cars. There are lots of em! Well, two so far.

Sure thing, Mr Chrill.  First up we've got the new Williams livery (2019 car won't appear until testing):

Colours courtesy of new sponsor ROKiT (to henceforth be written simply as 'Rokit'), who are apparently a new entrant into the world of mobile telephony; additional branding from PKN Orlen, the Polish petrochemical firm... as if you didn't already know those guys....

A couple of renders of the Toro Rosso STR14 - marvel at the sponsor-laden bodywork:

Toro Rosso to use as many 2018-spec Red Bull components in this year's machine as the rules allow: https://www.racefans.net/2019/02/11/toro-rosso-using-2018-spec-red-bull-parts-in-new-car/

Renault RS19 renders:

I do like the black & yellow combo, and also the simplified front wings are certainly more pleasing to the eye than 2018's efforts.

Good work.

I dislike the Williams livery, but I'm happy they have found a new title sponsor.

I can't imagine that cash from Rokit + PKN Orlen = Martini + Stroll + Sirotkin... but Williams always seems to cut their cloth accordingly rather than run up debt.

It's new car time!  The Mercedes W10 marks its debut with a filming day at Silverstone:

Almost certainly won't be seeing that Red Bull livery in Australia, sadly. I quite like it.

The Merc looks fast as always, and there is a bit of a revamp in livery there too. Nice.

Yeah, just temporary colours for Red Bull.  Nicked some more pictures of the RB15, but this time it's the actual car:

Odd to me that a company like Red Bull is so conservative in their liveries. They should actually use that one.

The new Mercedes livery looks better than the old one. The new Williams livery does not.

The Williams livery is not exactly a thing of beauty.

Force India's new colours on their old car (albeit with a 2019-style front wing):

Alfa Romeo (in temporary livery):

Interesting to see them leaving a gap between the front-wing flaps and the endplates.  Assume this is an attempt to regain some of the outwashing effect lost with these 2019 wings.

The Alfa frontwing is intense. Extremely different to anything else. Also notice the tip of the nose, like nothing we've seen yet. They are either throwing out decoys or they are on to something.

I'd say this is the first proper 2019 front wing (and maybe also nose) that we've seen, all the rest looking a tad too simplistic to be the finished articles.  Fascinating to see how much overlap there will be between Alfa and Ferrari designs....

... Not a lot judging by the initial Ferrari renders:

Mind you, I'm going to assume the car that turns up in Barcelona on Monday (or certainly the one used in Melbourne) will be wearing several new pieces of clothing (bodywork).

The Ferrari shares a bit with Haas (see the double exhausts stacked at the rear for example), but Sauber at least for now seems to develop their own philosophy. Surely aided by hints from Ferrari though.

We have a Sauber. This really is a Sauber. It's virtually the same livery. It maintains the Sauber chassis numbers too, this is the C38.

A Sauber with an Alfa Romeo badge stuck on it.

Seems they're running a reasonable rake on the car... not that I can remember how last year's was angled.

As always, I'm nicking these pictures this site: https://www.racefans.net/2019/02/18/first-pictures-alfa-romeo-presents-its-first-f1-car-for-34-years/

Craig Scarborough's analysis of Ferrari's new car - fairly lengthy but an interesting read if you enjoy the engineering side of F1: https://www.racefans.net/2019/02/19/ferrari-sf90-technical-analysis/

That Scarborough chap (as in Craig Scarborough and not just some random bloke from the town of Scarborough) did one of his analysis pieces on McLaren: https://www.racefans.net/2019/02/25/mclaren-mcl34-technical-analysis/

He's also done articles on Merc. & Red Bull, but the McLaren one is probably the best read as it explains what went so disastrously wrong with the design of their 2018 car.
